Christopher Johnson

Chris Johnson is the Vice President of International and Carelon Operations Excellence. He is a primary liaison between business leaders from Carelon Global Solutions, Carelon, and our holding company, Elevance Health. In his role, Chris is responsible for progressing Carelon’s high-value operations initiatives and Carelon Global Solutions’ operational growth strategy. He is a key advisor to chief operating officers and chief information officers company-wide to develop and drive centralized operations and strategic initiatives tied to enterprise priorities and operational excellence.

Chris has over 30 years of experience scaling businesses for growth and higher operating performance in the healthcare, financial, and consulting industries. He demonstrated progressive, strategic, and transformational leadership in his roles at UnitedHealth Group and at Optum, leading key initiatives, driving operational innovation, and building a global operating shared services vision to deliver scale and operational synergies. Chris additionally served in varied executive roles in Fortune 500 companies, including U.S. Bancorp, Arthur Andersen, and American Express.

Chris received his Master of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and his Bachelor of Business Administration, Economics, and Business Management from the University of North Dakota.
